The Review

In-Depth Zomro Review

Zomro has been operating since 2014, originally from Kharkiv (Ukraine) and now headquartered in Cyprus. They occupy the budget basement of the VPS market — $2.50/mo entry is the cheapest in our cohort, with locations across 10+ countries. The trade-offs are real: hardware is older, support is minimal, and uptime is below cohort average.

Hardware is mixed. Our Moscow test node ran on an HP ProLiant DL360 Gen10 with Intel Xeon Gold 6248 (20 cores @ 2.5GHz), DDR4-2666 memory, and Samsung PM883 SATA SSDs in RAID-1. Performance was adequate but uninspiring: UnixBench 1,840, disk I/O 320 MB/s, network 940 Mbit/s. The Frankfurt location performed notably worse (UnixBench 1,520) on older Xeon E5-2650 v4 hardware.

Uptime was the weakest in our cohort: 99.82% over 90 days, with 6 minor outages (longest was 1h 12min, caused by a router failure in their Frankfurt DC). Zomro publishes a status page but updates are slow — the 1h outage was not reflected on the status page until 35 minutes after it began. For non-critical workloads this is tolerable; for production, look elsewhere.

The standout feature is geographic flexibility at budget pricing. With locations in Russia, Netherlands, Germany, France, USA, UK, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Poland, Zomro is the cheapest way to spin up VPS in many regions simultaneously — useful for latency testing, content geo-unblocking, and lightweight monitoring probes. Just don't run production on it.

Common Questions

Zomro FAQ

No. With 99.82% uptime and slow status updates, Zomro is not suitable for production. Use it for testing, monitoring, geo-unblocking, and short-lived workloads where 6+ hours of downtime per year is acceptable.

Zomro operates on a tight budget and uses refurbished enterprise gear (HP DL360 Gen9/Gen10, Dell R730/R740) purchased from secondary markets. This keeps pricing low but means performance lags newer EPYC/Ryzen deployments by 30-50%.

Yes. Zomro's Moscow DC operates under Russian jurisdiction and does not enforce US DMCA notices. Other locations (Netherlands, Germany, France, USA, UK) follow local law and will honor DMCA takedowns.

Yes, vertical scaling is done live via the control panel with no reboot required (KVM memory ballooning). Disk upgrades require a reboot but no reinstall. Downgrades require a ticket and 24-hour processing.

Final Verdict
“Zomro is the budget basement — fine for testing, monitoring, and lightweight workloads across many geographies. Do not use for production. Cheapest entry pricing in our cohort, but you get what you pay for.”
